ABOUT GARY FRY
Gary Fry has a first-class degree and a PhD in psychology, though his first love is literature. He has been writing seriously for around five years, despite dabbling with prose since his teens. His first sale was rather a grand one: a short story, 'Both And', to Ramsey Campbell for inclusion in the international anthology GATHERING THE BONES. Since then, he has placed tales in innumerable outlets, including the Arkham House collection EVERMORE, the nationally distributed US magazine BRUTARIAN QUARTERLY, the forthcoming Cemetery Dance anthology BRITISH INVASION, and lots of others. His first collection THE IMPELLED AND OTHER HEAD TRIPS (Crowswing; 2006) included an introduction by Ramsey Campbell in which Gary was described as a "master". His second collection WORLD WIDE WEB AND OTHER LOVECRAFTIAN UPGRADES (Humdrumming; introduction by Mark Morris) came out in 2007, and his third SANITY AND OTHER DELUSIONS: TALES OF PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR (PS Publishing; introduction by Stephen Volk) is out now. His first novel, THE HOUSE OF CANTED STEPS, will be published by PS Publishing in 2010. Gary has a deep interest in psychology and philosophy; indeed, related concerns inform his fiction. He likes to think that every facet of his thought can be strung together by reading his assorted pieces, each adding to the whole - a 'vision', if you like, and if that doesn't sound too pretentious. But he's never been one to flinch away from ambition. Gary also runs Gray Friar Press, whose first title, the mighty horror anthology POE'S PROGENY, was released in autumn 2005. He has followed this with other fine books, and hopes one day to build the company into a significant force in the field of dark literature. Gary has also written a crime novel, I WITNESS; a Lovecraftian horror novel, GOD'S EYE VIEW; and a small-town horror novel called ON THE OTHER SIDE. All these books reflect Gary's predilection for page-turning narratives, complex thematic development, and compelling characterisation. Finally, Gary wishes to welcome all to his presence on the Web. Stick around, browse, buy a book, do some reading...and sweet dreams. Or rather...not. Contact |
